How To Score Situational Writing - Email

  • When sending an email to a friend or relative, remember to start your email with a salutation/greeting to the recipient.

Example:

  1. Dear Jane,
  2. Hi Paula,
  • Start with a short topic sentence on what the email is about.

Example:

  1. Your birthday celebration sounds exciting!
  2. I heard that you are looking for a job.
  • There are several points given in the question. You must address all of them. (That's where your 6 marks for content go to.)
  • The last sentence in an email is a reflection of the first and emails usually end with the sender asking the recipient for a reply.
  • Remember to sign of with the recipient's name if given

Example:

Yours sincerely,

Ashley

Yours faithfully,

John

Love,

Su Ling

OR

  • Sign of with your name if they did not ask you to imagine that you are someone else.

Yours truly,

Alison
